Truth is in the eyes of experience

As with all things, there is more to life than meets the eye. For as it turns out, the eyes are actually poor informants. When we look at the world through our eyes, the brain converts the information it receives by applying all the other shit we've managed to store away in our life and then makes a judgement as to its meaning. This of course changes the actual experience into a personal experience. Nonobjective? Absolutely! Unavoidable? Absolutely! So what can we do to see the world more clearly? By increasing the amount and complexity of our experiences in life we also increase the objectivity of each visual experience we have. Why is this important? Survival! And not just individual but that of all humankind. By increasing the diversity of your daily existence, you broaden the scope of experiential data and increase the objectivity of your decision making. In principle all of this should lead to a more harmonious personal life and a better society. So if its this simple why dont we live in Shangrila? Ah! The catch-22! Humans inevitably choose the easiest and less cumbersome path. Its much easier to believe something than it is to take time to know it. So we usually continue the continue and live within a very small realm of existence rarely exposing ourselves to different cultures, experiences and flavors. Having worked in the foodservice industry for 30 years and my own coffeehouse for 9 years has exposed me to thousands of people who become so predictable in their preferences that you begin to wonder if satisfaction has been replaced by convenience simply because its ......just easier. I mean why work hard trying to understand the subtle nuances between an italian roasted Ethiopian and a french roast Moka Java? The conveinience of the mundane far outweighs the satisfaction of the enjoyment.
